The FEMA elevation certificate is used to document elevation information of a building or property. This information may be used to determine whether or not a building or land is within a flood zone. It also shows its relationship to the local Base Flood Elevation as shown on the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) of FEMA. This information could be used to reduce or eliminate flood insurance costs.
